Privacy Policy for LinkGuard

Effective Date: 16/1/2026

Developer: Green Robot Labs

Website: greenrobotlabs.com

At Green Robot Labs, we take your privacy seriously. LinkGuard is designed to be a safe, local-first tool for QR and barcode scanning. This policy explains how we handle your information.

1. Information Collection and Use

LinkGuard is built on the principle of data minimization. We do not collect personal identification information.

  • Camera Data LinkGuard requires access to your device’s camera to scan QR codes and barcodes. This processing happens in real-time on your device. We do not record, store, or transmit any video or images from your camera to our servers.
  • Biometric Data If you enable the "History Lock" feature, the app uses your device's biometric sensors (Fingerprint or Face ID). LinkGuard does not access, collect, or store your biometric data. The authentication process is handled entirely by the Android System, which only informs the app if the attempt was successful.
  • Storage & Media When you use the "Scan from Gallery" or "Save QR" features, the app accesses specific image files. This access is limited to the files you select or create.

2. Local Data Storage

All scan history, including the content of scanned links and timestamps, is stored locally on your device in a private database. This data is never synchronized with any cloud service or shared with Green Robot Labs.

Data Deletion

You have full control over your data. You can delete individual scans or clear your entire history at any time within the app's "History" tab. Uninstalling the app will also remove all locally stored history.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party libraries to provide core functionality:

  • Google ML Kit Used for barcode and QR code recognition. Processing is performed on-device. Google’s Privacy Policy →
  • ZXing Used for generating QR codes. This is an open-source library that operates entirely offline.

4. Link Safety & External Links

LinkGuard provides "Smart Previews" to help you identify potentially malicious links. However, once you choose to "Open Securely," you are subject to the privacy policies of the website you are visiting. We encourage you to be cautious when visiting unknown sites.

5. Permissions Summary

  • CAMERA To scan codes.
  • INTERNET To allow you to visit scanned links.
  • VIBRATE To provide haptic feedback upon successful scans.
  • BIOMETRICS To secure your scan history.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
